Terms of service
Last updated 21 April 2026 · Governed by the laws of Kenya.
1. What Tamu does
Tamu is a restaurant discovery and reservation service. We connect diners with restaurants. We are not the restaurant. Food quality, service, and the experience at the venue are the restaurant's responsibility.
2. Who can use Tamu
Anyone with a valid email address. You must be at least 18 to place a reservation. You agree to provide accurate information when you book.
3. Bookings
A reservation on Tamu is a request. We confirm it with the restaurant by phone, usually within 15 minutes. The restaurant can accept, decline, or offer an alternative. You are responsible for showing up on time.
4. No-shows
Three consecutive no-shows within 90 days may result in your account being flagged or suspended. Restaurants may decline future bookings from accounts with a no-show history.
5. Pricing
Tamu is free for diners. Restaurants pay us for successful bookings and, optionally, for paid placement. All prices shown on the site are set by the restaurant.
6. Content and reviews
Menu and profile content is owned by the restaurant or licensed for display. Our editorial lists are our opinion and may include paid placement, always labeled.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Tamu to spam, scrape at scale, impersonate someone, harass restaurant staff, or do anything illegal. We can suspend accounts for abuse.
8. Liability
Tamu is provided as-is. We're not liable for the quality of the food, service, or experience at a restaurant. Our maximum liability to you is capped at KSh 10,000 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, whichever is lower (which for diners is zero).
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes are emailed to signed-in users. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Kenyan courts.
